Warrior wrestlers Jackson Schenk and Kyle Scott concluded their final matches of their careers at the NAIA Wrestling Championships on Friday, Mar. 1.
Warrior seniors Jackson Schenk and Kyle Scott are set to compete in the 2024 NAIA Men’s Wrestling Championships, beginning on Thursday, Feb. 29, at 11:00 a.m. at Hartman Arena. This year’s tournament is the first in program history where Rochester sends multiple wrestlers to the big dance.
It was a groundbreaking day for the Warriors at the 2023-24 WHAC Men's Wrestling Tournament, headlined by Head Coach Wesley Maskill being selected as the conference's Coach of the Year following a 5-1 season.
The 2023-24 season comes to a head for the Warriors on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 9 a.m. when the Warriors begin competing in the 2023-24 WHAC Men’s Wrestling Tournament at Marian University.
It was a very special day for the Warriors, with plenty to celebrate on Sunday afternoon following a 26-15 victory over the #RV Marian Knights in Garth Pleasant Arena. With the win, the Warriors secured their highest WHAC regular season placement in the program's history (2nd). Additionally, Rochester celebrated the careers of six seniors - Rico Brown, Dillon Coulter, Connor Crinigan, Natalie Kutzli, Jackson Schenk, and Kyle Scott.
It’ll be a showdown in Mol Arena on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 6:30 p.m. for Warrior Wrestling, who faces the #RV Cornerstone Golden Eagles. Last season, Rochester emerged victorious over the Golden Eagles 23-18 in Garth Pleasant Arena.
Rochester will travel to Allendale to face off with NCAA DII Grand Valley State on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. The Warriors are fresh off a successful weekend, defeating WHAC opponent Cleary and earning a high number of placements at the Alma Open.
Saturday was a very successful day for the Warriors at the Alma Open. Rochester secured ten different placements during the event, which was the most in a single event by the team all season.
Rochester got momentum with an early win and continued it through the course of its dual with WHAC foe Siena Heights on Tuesday night in SHU Fieldhouse, with five Warriors securing wins by fall or technical fall during the matchup.
It was a solid weekend for Men's Wrestling at the Indiana Little State Open, with six Warriors earning placements during the tournament, including two top-three finishes. Captains Jackson Schenk and Kyle Scott headlined the Warriors with top-three finishes in their respective weight classes, with the wrestlers placing second and third, respectively. Schenk put up an impressive win in the 285 semi-final, defeating #13 Braydon Erb of Indiana Tech by decision.
Men's Wrestling had a solid showing at the Trine Invitational on Saturday afternoon, with captain Jackson Schenk leading the way for Rochester with a third-place finish. During Schenk's run, the senior defeated the #12 wrestler in the 285 division, going 4-1 for the day.
