WARRIORS COMPLETE SEASON AT NAIA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT
Warrior wrestlers Jackson Schenk and Kyle Scott concluded their final matches of their careers at the NAIA Wrestling Championships on Friday, Mar. 1.
PARK CITY, Kan. - Warrior wrestlers Jackson Schenk and Kyle Scott concluded their final matches of their careers at the NAIA Wrestling Championships on Friday, Mar. 1. Schenk went 2-2 in his matches during the tournament, while Scott faced two tough opponents and conceded both matches.
Schenk had an outstanding showing in his first match of the tourney, defeating Rio Grande's Bruce Wagers 20-6 in a major decision. The next match was against #1 wrestler Greg Hagan out of Grand View, which Hagan won 16-2.
In the consolation bracket, Schenk earned his second win by fall against Austin Foye of Central Methodist 2:15 into the first round. Schenk would be defeated in the next match by a tie-breaker against Wylie Dunn of Cumberlands, 3-2.
In Scott's first match, Reinhardt's Curtis Thomas defeated the three-time qualifier 11-1 in major decision. In the consolation bracket, Scott fell to Providence's Sawyer Hobbs in the second round.
With the conclusion of the tournament for the Warriors, Schenk and Scott leave behind illustrious careers with a long-lasting impact on the Warrior wrestling program. Both are the first two NAIA National Qualifiers in the program's history, with Scott being the first three-timer.
