Volleyball closes out regular season with sweep over UNOH
(Lima, OH) - The Rochester Christian women's volleyball team closed out the regular season on Saturday afternoon when they took on the Racers from Northwestern Ohio. The Warriors earned the sweep on the final day of the regular season, not allowing the Racers to earn more than 19 points in a set.
RCU picks up their first 20-win season since 2016, and hold an overall record of 20-11 and 13-7 in conference play. UNOH falls to 5-25 overall and 2-18 in WHAC play.
Set 1 saw the Racers grab the first four points, before Alivia Everitt got the first RCU kill. RCU's offense started to pick up scoring 11 of the next 18 points to force a UNOH timeout and take a 12-11 lead. Out of the timeout, RCU would go on other 6-2 run, forcing the Racers to use their second timeout. RCU closed out the set with Liljana Margiljaj, Everitt, Mackenzie Keefer, Hailee Mancogna, and Chante Hudgings all earning kills, while Madelyn Geisenhaver earned an ace.
The second set of the evening saw RCU storm out to a 10-3 lead with Hailee Mancogna and Chante Hudgins earning a couple kills. Another 8-3 Warrior run was sandwhiched by a pair of UNOH timeouts as the Warriors led 18-6. UNOH would earn 13 of the final 20 points in the set, but a Liljana Margiljaj kill ended the comeback attempt.
Madelyn Geisenhaver and Alivia Everitt got the Warriors the first points of the eventual final set. RCU took control early on in the set, not allowing a more than 2-point run for the Racers until towards the end of the set. Chante Hudgins closed out the regular season ending the match with a kill.
TOP PERFORMANCES
Chante Hudgsin paced the RCU offense tallying a season-high 15 kills, recording a .500 hitting percentage. Alivia Everitt (9), Liljana Margiljaj (8), and Hailee Mancogna (8) all added kills for the attack. Mackenzie Keefer added 44 assists, which is the most assists a Warrior setter has had in a three set match since 2013.
Ashley Horne led the RCU defensive back line with 17 digs, while Hannah Maynard tallied 11 and Madelyn Geisenhaver and Mackenzie Keefer each added 10.

The Warriors will now prepare for the WHAC tournament, which starts on Wednesday, November 12. RCU will play host to the Madonna Crusaders at Garth Pleasant Arena at 7 PM.
