Volleyball wins 7th straight game with Homecoming win over Siena Heights

(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian women's volleyball team played host to the Saints from Siena Heights on Saturday afternoon on Homecoming. The Warriors controlled the match from the first set, picking up their second 3-0 sweep over the Saints this season. The Warriors improve to 19-8 overall on the season and 12-4 in WHAC play, while the Saints fall to 11-20 overall and 6-10 in conference play. 

 

The Warriors took control of the set early on as they scored eight of the first 11 points with Madelyn Geisenhaver earning the first RCU point. The Saints responded right back with their own 12-3 run, making it a 12-11 game. Alivia Everitt and Hailee Mancogna ended the SHU run, scoring a couple of points to force a SHU timeout. The team discontinued trading points until RCU scored five of the final eight points. 

 

Kendal Zeiter scored three of the first four points to start the RCU's scoring in set two. Madelyn Geisenhaver continued the RCU run by serving eight straight points with a trio of aces in the run. The Saints would start a comeback within the set, despite a couple of kills from Hailee Mancogna and Kendal Zeiter. Mancogna would go on and score the final three RCU points. 

 

Alivia Everitt, Madelyn Geisenhaver, and Hailee Mancogna accounted for the first three RCU points as they all combined on blocks. Mancogna scored another three kills to give the Warriors an 8-3 lead. The two teams would eventually pull to a tie at 13, before RCU scored 12 of the final 16 points to take the sweep. 

 

TOP PERFORMERS

The Warriors' offense was paced by Hailee Mancogna with 13 kills with only one error, while Kendal Zeiter had 11 kills with no errors. Mackenzie Keefer tallied 32 assists in the match. 

 

The defense was led by Ashley Horne with 17 digs, while Mackenzie Keefer recorded 13. Alivia Everitt led the front line with nine total blocks (1 solo), while Kendal Zeiter recorded four, and Madelyn Geisenhaver and Hailee Mancogna each recorded three.
