Volleyball falls in straight sets to #RV Aquinas

(Grand Rapids, MI) - The Rochester Christian women's volleyball team headed to the west side of Michigan to face off against the Saints from Aquinas in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) match. RCU falls to 11-7 overall and 5-3 in WHAC play, while the Saints improve to 16-4 overall and 8-0 in conference play. 

 

Aquinas would take the first set 25-14. Kendal Zeiter got the first point of the set to start the RCU scoring. The Saints, though, were able to get on a couple of scoring runs throughout the set, as the Warriors were held to streaks of two points throughout the set. 

 

Set two once again saw Kendal Zeiter earn the first RCU point. The two teams traded points throughout the set, with neither team gaining more than a point difference. A block assist from Alivia Everitt and Madelyn Geisenhaver gave the Warriors a 16-15 advantage. AQ offense exploded from that point and went on a 10-4 run to end the set. 

 

The final set of the evening began with Alivia Everitt earning the first RCU point. Aquinas began to pull away once again in the set. The Saints would end the match on a 8-1 run. 

 

TOP PERFORMERS

Chante Hudgins led the team with eight kills, with Kendal Zeiter and Hailee Mancogna recording six and five, respectively. Mackenzie Keefer was the sole assister with 21 on the day. 

 

Ashley Horne led the defensive backline with 10 digs, while Mackenzie Keefer tallied seven. Keefer, Alivia Everitt, and Chante Hudgins each had two blocks in the game. 

 

UP NEXT

The Warriors will return home for a pair of games against Northwestern Ohio on Friday, October 3, and Indiana Tech on Saturday, October 4. Friday's match will begin at 7 PM, while Saturday's will start at 2 PM.
