Warriors fall to #RV Cornerstone in straight sets

(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian women's volleyball team returned to conference play on Wednesday evening with a matchup against #RV Cornerstone. The Golden Eagles would end up sweeping the Warriors in straight sets as they improve to 11-3 and 2-1 in conference play. The Warriors drop to 8-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

After a tight first half of set number 1, which saw the score get no wider than two points, Cornerstone would go on a run, scoring 13 of the final 15 runs in the set to take a 1-0 lead. Alivia Everitt recorded multiple kills in the set to aid the Warriors' offense.

Kendal Zeiter started the scoring for the RCU offense with a kill, as it sparked the Warriors to grab six of the first nine points. CU started to claw their way back into the set, evening the set at 10 points apiece. Neither team could gain a hold in the set as RCU had a string of four points and a string of three straight points, while the Golden Eagles had a string of four points in a row. Madelyn Geisenhaver and Mackenzie Keefer both aided the scoring with aces before CU pulled away, scoring the final two points of the set.

The final set of the night started once again with a Kendal Zeiter kill, which was the start of another back-and-forth set. A Kourtney Mack kill tied the match at 18 points, and RCU took advantage of a couple of CU errors and a kill from Chante Hudgins to gain a 21-18 lead.
