Volleyball splits non-conference tri-match against Lancaster Bible and Ohio Christian
(Circleville, OH) - The Rochester Christian women's volleyball team took a short two-game break from conference play to travel down to Circleville, Ohio, for a tri-match against Lancaster Bible College and Ohio Christian. The Warriors pulled off a sweep against Lancaster Bible before falling in a tough 5-set match with OCU. The Warriors are now 8-5 on the season, while LBC falls to 2-6 and the Trailblazers improve to 13-0.
GAME 1 - RCU 3, LBC 0
The first set between the Warriors and the Chargers was back and forth with team sbeing tied at the midpoint at 14 points a piece. Hailee Mancogna recorded a couple of kills throughout the set, as the Warriors were able to take advantage of LBC errors to win the set 25-21.
Another tight set at the beginning saw another tie at 14, the Warriors would wind scoring five straight points, getting points from Madelyn Geisenhaver, Mackenzie Keefer, and Kourtney Mack. The game would once again tie at 17, which sparked RCU to score the final nine point of the set, including a pair of kills from Kendal Zeiter and a service ace from Ashley Horne.
A 11-point run throughout the middle of the set propelled the Warriors from being down 8-7 wot gaining a 18-8 lead. Aisha Gray, Hailee Mancogna, and Liljana Margiljaj closed out the rest of the match for the win.
GAME 2 - OCU 3, RCU 2
The first set of the match against Ohio Christian, had both teams go on seperate runs throughout the set. OCU started with a 6-3 run, before RCU recorded an 8-1 run. The Trailblazers would end the set scoring seven of the final 11 points.
A back-and-forth set saw both teams until RCU held a 13-11 run. From that point the RCU offense came alive scoring 11 of the final 18 points , with Alivia Everitt, Hailee Mancogna, Emma Hock, Kourtney Mack, and Kendal Zeiter all earning kills and Emma Hock earning a service ace.
The middle set would go the way of the Trailblazers as their offense would go on a 10-3 run to take a 19-12 lead. Kendal Zeiter, Kourtney Mack, and Hailee Mancogna attempted aid the Warriors to comeback that would not be successful.
A couple of solid point streaks aided RCU to take the fourth set of the match and tie it up at two games apiece. Alyssa Swanson and Emma Hock aided in an early six-point streak to give them an 8-4 lead. Kendal Zeiter scored three straight kills to spark a 10-1 run, where she had another three kills. A third streak for RCU saw them grab seven of the final eight points.
Kendal Zeiter started the final set off with a pair of kills. An OCU run in the middle of the set aided them to take an 11-6 lead. A late comeback attempt from RCU was too little too late as they scored their four final points to RCU's six.
TOP PERFORMERS
Kendal Zeiter led the team on the day with 28 kills throughout the eight sets, while Hailee Mancogna, Kourtney Mack, and Alivia Everitt all recorded double-digit kills as well with 16, 14, and 11, respectively. Emma Hock was the top assister in the doubleheader with 40 assists, with Mackenzie Keefer assisting on 24 kills.
Karli Rohraff and Ashley Horne led the backline defense with 24 and 21 digs each, while Kourtney Mack and Alivia Everitt each had four blocks.
