Volleyball drops WHAC match at Lawrence Tech
(Southfield, MI) - The Rochester Christian women's volleyball team traveled down the road to the Don Ridler Fieldhouse for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) battle against the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils. The two teams split the first pair of sets before LTU secured the final two sets for a 3-1 win. RCU drops to 7-4 on the season and 2-1 in WHAC play, while LTU improves to 9-1 and remains perfect in WHAC play.
GAME: LTU 3, RCU 1
LTU took the early lead in the set, getting out to a 10-5 lead, before the Warriors' offense stormed back with Chante Hudgins and Hailee Mancogna aiding the 11-5 scoring run. Multiple LTU attacking errors aided the Warriors in finishing out the set with a 25-19 win.
RCU jumped out to a 5-0 lead to start the second set, getting a couple of kills from Kendal Zeiter. The Warriors continued their streak of play with Hailee Mancogna and Alivia Everitt both earning kills. LTU went on a six-point run in the middle of the set to gain a 19-15 advantage, where they would then score the final six points to win the set.
The third set saw a back-and-forth battle as the team tied the match at 5 points apiece. Following a short LTU run, RCU was able to keep the score within four points with Madalyn Geisenhaver, Kendal Zieter, and Chante Hudgins finishing their attacks. Rochester Christian was able to bring the score to 18-20, but the final five points to take set three.
The final set of the evening saw the Warriors jump out to a 7-1 lead, in part due to Kendal Zeiter and Alivia Everitt. LTU closed the gap with a 7-2 of their own. The Warriors were able to keep their lead for most of the set, with Hannah Maynard going on a serving streak, which included an ace. The Blue Devils ended the match with a strong 13-5 run to earn the WHAC win.
TOP PERFORMERS
The duo of Kendal Zeiter and Chante Hudgins both recorded double-digit kills with 11 and 10, respectively, with Hailee Mancogna right behind them with eight. Mackenzie Keefer tallied 21 assists on the evening.
Chante Hudgins led the defensive front line with seven total blocks, while Madelyn Geisenhaver recorded five. Ashley Horne and Mackenzie Keefer dug out 18 and 12 attacks, respectively.

The Warriors take a break from WHAC play, as they travel to Circleville, Ohio, for a tri-match against Lancaster Bible College and Ohio Christian. RCU will take on Lancaster starting at 1 PM, before taking on Ohio Christian at 3 PM.
