Women's Basketball drops first WHAC contest since November to #24 Indiana Tech
(Fort Wayne, IN) - The Rochester Christian women's basketball team headed down to Fort Wayne, Indiana, for a crucial WHAC battle against the #24 Indiana Tech Warriors. IIT was able to outscore RCU in all four quarters enroute to the WHAC win.
RCU drops to 13-7 overall and 12-2 in conference play.
FIRST HALF
An opening possession bucket from Kendal Zeiter would start the game off for RCU, before Indiana Tech responded with a commanding 15-0 run over the next several minutes. Jacey Somers would add a couple of free throws to snap the run and aid RCU to score seven of the final 13 points in the period, with Samone Andrews adding a three-pointer.
IIT opened the second period on an 8-2 run, over the first five minutes, before Mylah Aalse and Kendal Zeiter each hit a layup. Amal Younes made her first shot of the day, before Ashley Loon tallied a three-pointer as RCU went into the half down 43-22.
SECOND HALF
Indiana Tech would once again open the quarter on a big run, outscoring RCU 14-2 over the first five minutes. Tambre Williams broke the run-up before Jacey Somers and Ashley Loon would both add buckets as well.
Shahid Bakkar and Ashley Loon started the final period for the Warriors with a 5-2 run, before both teams went scoreless over the next two minutes. Samone Andrews would hit a pair of free throws and Kendal Zeiter closed out the RCU scoring with three points.
TOP PERFORMERS
Two Warriors tallied double figures in points, with Kendal Zeiter leading the way with 13 and Ashley Loon tallying 11. Zeiter would also lead the team with three assists.
Kendal Zeiter would lead the team with 11 rebounds on the day, with nine coming on the defensive end.

The Warriors will be back on the court on Wednesday, January 28, when they travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan, to face Aquinas.
