Women's Basketball shoots over 50% against the Racers in WHAC win
(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian women's basketball team returned to the Garth Pleasant arena on Saturday afternoon for a matchup against the Northwestern Ohio Racers. The Warriors scored at least 20 points in all four quarters to put up their most points since January of 2023. RCU moves back to 3-3 on the season overall and 3-0 in conference play, while the Racers fall to 5-2 overall and 0-2 in WHAC play.
FIRST HALF
UNOH got off to a hot start on its first two possessions with a pair of threes to start off the game, scoring nine of the first 13 points. Samone Andrews and Kendal Zeiter brought the Warriors to within a point, and then an Andrews jumper gave the Warriors the final lead change of the game. Zeiter and Andrews combined for 13 of the first 15 team points. Ashley Loon added a pair of free throws and a three-pointer before the end of the first.
Tambre Williams started the Warriors off in the second quarter with a bucket, before Emily Lockey scored the next seven points, bumping the RCU lead up to 13. Jordan Peterson scored the next four points. RCU ended the quarter on a 12-4 run to lead 50-32.
SECOND HALF
Coming out for the second half, the RCU offense wouldn't let up, starting off with a 22-7 run. UNOH scored four of the first six points before Ashley Loon made a three-pointer and Samone Andrews scored eight of the next 10 points, with a pair of threes. Jacey Somers ended the quarter with a couple of layups.
Tambre Williams once again got the Warriors on the board first in the fourth with a score. The two teams continued to trade points, with Jacey Somers and Jordan Peterson adding buckets. The final four minutes saw Amal Younes and Lucy Freytag get into the scoring column for the Warriors.
TOP PERFORMERS
Samone Andrews led all scorers in the game with 24 points on 10-17 shooting, with four other RCU players in double figures. Kendal Zeiter, Ashley Loon, Jacey Somers, and Jordan Peterson tallied 15, 14, 12, and 10 points, respectively. Andrews also would lead the team with five assists, while Zeiter and Loon both recorded four.
Kendal Zeiter picked up her first double-double of the season with 11 rebounds, with Samone Andrews recording eight and Ashley Loon tallying seven rebounds. Andrews led the team with four steals on the day.

The Warriors will be back on the court on Tuesday, November 25, as they head down to Ohio to square up against the Grey Wolves from Lourdes with a 5:30 PM tipoff.
