Men's Basketball takes home win over Siena Heights

(Adrian, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's basketball team headed down the road to take on the Saints from Siena Heights. The Warriors outscored the Saints in both halves, shooting the ball at a 63.8% clip and 50.0% from deep, enroute to the 15-point victory. RCU improves to 17-7 on the season and 12-6 in WHAC play. 

 

FIRST HALF

Dustin Farrow got the scoring started between the two teams in what seemed to be a race to 10 points, with the teams trading baskets right off the back. Linden Holder and Tymias WIlliams hit back-to-back three-pointers to jump start a 11-2 run that put the Warriors up eight points. 

 

Mason Parker nabbed a three-pointer in the middle of a 11-5 SHU run that brought the score back to within two points. Over the final 6:27, Tymias Williams scored eight of the 12 RCU points, including a dunk as well as a pair of free throws. 

 

SECOND HALF

Darnell Turner Jr. opened the second half of the game scoring the first five of the first seven RCU points, with Tymias Williams adding the next five points. An Ashton Goul three-pointer, at the 11:59 mark, gave the Warriors a double-digit lead which would remain until the end of the game. 

 

The Warriors continued to add points throughout the final 10 minutes, including a Dustin Farrow three-pointer, while Tymias Williams and Darnell Turn Jr. added layups. The final 4:46 saw the Warriors outscore the Saints 11-5 to close out the WHAC victory. 

 

TOP PERFORMERS

Tymias Williams led all scorers in the game with 26 points on 11-15 shooting, while Darnell Turner Jr. scored 11 and James Fisher tallied 10. Linden Holder led the team with five assists in the game. 

 

Tymias Williams brought down six rebounds to lead the team, while Ashton Goul was second with five. Williams also recorded a team-high three steals and two blocks in the game. 

 

UP NEXT

The Warriors return home to the Garth Pleasant Arena for the first of two straight home games, taking on the Cleary Cougars on Saturday, February 14, at 3 PM. The Warriors will additionally honor senior day approximately five minutes prior to tip-off.
