Men's Basketball earns second conference win with 92-68 win over UNOH
(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's basketball team ended its five-game homestand against the Racers from Northwestern Ohio on Saturday afternoon. After having a four-point game at the half, both sides of the ball picked up their share of play, with the offense putting up 54 points to the Racers' 34. RCU now moves to 6-1 on the season and 2-0 in WHAC play, while the Racers fall to 2-6 and 0-2 on the year.
FIRST HALF
Immediately following the jump ball, Tymias Williams would take a lob from Holder to grab the first points of the game. The Warriors grabbed points on their next three possessions as well, with Dustin Farrow making a free throw, while James Fisher and Tyler Allen both scored layups. Linden Holder recorded a three-pointer with the next RCU basket coming two minutes later on a Darnell Turner Jr. steal and layup. Jamil Mashhour and Mason Parker both got in on the scoring before the next media timeout.
RCU's first possession out of the media was a Tyler Allen three-pointer before another two-minute scoring drought, with Ashton Goul breaking it with a three of his own. The next five points on the RCU side would come from free throws as Tymias Williams and Dustin Farrow added buckets before the halftime mark.
SECOND HALF
The Racers were able to grab a slight lead coming out of the second half with a 14-6 run, before RCU picked it up. Linden Holder hit a three, and Ashton Goul followed that up with an "and-1" and a three-pointer to put the lead back to nine points. RCU converted on five of their six free throws before the media timeout.
Following the timeout, Tyler Allen scored four points and Dustin Farrow tallied four as the Warriors pushed the lead up to 20. The teams would continue to trade points throughout the final 10 minutes, with RCU getting scores from Jamil Mashhour and Cyrus Watkins adding points late.
TOP PERFORMERS
Five Warriors scored in double-figures, led by Tymias Williams and Tyler Allen with 16 each, while Dustin Farrow had 13 and Ashton Goul and Darnell Turner Jr. both had 11. Linden Holder led the team with five assists, while Williams had four and Farrow and Turner Jr. each had three.
Tymias Williams and Dustin Farrow led the rebounding effort, each with seven. Darnell Turner Jr. was top on the defense with four steals, with Williams, Farrow, and Tyler Allen each creating two turnovers.
