WARRIORS FALL TO CLEARY IN NAILBITER

It was a dramatic first game in the Warriors' (0-26-0, 0-22-0) matchup with the Cleary Cougars (15-19-0, 9-13-0) on Friday night, with both teams trading goals until a late Cougar goal sealed the win. In that matchup, freshman JT Hosack put up a brilliant performance, scoring two goals while assisting on another to keep Rochester in the game.
It was a tough start for Rochester, going down 3-1 after conceding two early goals, followed by an answer from defender Kyle Hauer, assisted by Hosack and Jordan Winrod. Cleary scored again late in the first period, but the Warriors went on a remarkable turnaround to get things even. Two minutes into the second, Griffin Hernalsteen connected with Hosack for a goal, and the Warriors made several defensive stands after. Hauer returned the favor to Hosack alongside Winrod for a game-tying goal with five minutes left in the second period.
Goalkeeper Blake Mitchell recorded 29 saves in the contest, making multiple difficult saves to keep Rochester in the game. Both teams were neck-and-neck as time wound down, but the Cougars executed a great play to find the back of the net with three minutes remaining, winning the game. The Cougars carried that momentum into the second contest, winning 8-1. Winrod scored the Warriors' lone goal, which Kyle Banks and Cole Zalewski assisted.
