HOCKEY SWEPT BY AQUINAS IN SEASON SERIES

BYRON CENTER, Mich. – Rochester (0-16-0, 0-14-0) fell in both games this weekend against the Aquinas Saints (8-11-0, 6-6-0).

FRIDAY

• The Warriors found themselves in the penalty box already for the second time when the Saints cashed in and scored about five minutes into the game
• The Saints scored again a few minutes later and took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission
• Rochester played better defense and did not allow the Saints to have so many shots as in previous games. Still allowing 37 shots and six of those pucks to get through, the Warriors found themselves down 6-0 late in the third
• The Warriors logged two quick goals in the 19th minute of the third from freshmen Kyle Hauer and JT Hosack and ended the game with a better-looking 6-2 deficit

SATURDAY

• The Saints would score quickly when they played host on Saturday
• Hauer would find his second goal of the weekend as an answer in the middle stages of the first period, assisted by Hosack
• The Saints would quickly respond with another goal, and they had the lead 2-1 heading into the second period
• A second period dominated by the Saints, the Warriors allowed a goal on their first defensive possession
• After scoring three more goals and in the final minute of the period, both a Saint and Warrior were thrown out of the game, and another from each team was thrown into the box with a five-minute major for fighting
• The Warriors would peck at the deficit by scoring first in the third, but the Saints scored themselves within two minutes
• In a game where the Warriors gave up twice the amount of shots from the night before, the Saints padded their lead in the final minute with another goal and won 8-2

UP NEXT

The Warriors will step away from conference play this weekend when they travel to Pennsylvania to play a club team at Mercyhurst for a Friday and Sunday matchup.
