Women's Wrestling competes at the Mid-South Championships, Snyder becomes program's first NAIA Qualifier

(Bowling Green, KY) - The Rochester Christian women's wrestling team kicked off its postseason, traveling to the Ephram White Gym in Bowling Green, KY. The Warriors saw three different wrestlers place within the top-8, en route to the team's eighth-place finish. 

 

Julia Snyder was the top-placer for the Warriors, earning a fourth-place finish, and will be the Warriors' first-ever national qualifier for the NAIA Tournament next month. Snyder won her first match of the tournament with a 12-2 tech fall before dropping to the consolation bracket. Snyder would advance to the third-place match with a 10-0 tech fall win, where she would ultimately fall to earn fourth. 

 

Megan Melnyk earned a 2-3 record for the tournament. Melnyk won her first match of the day by a fall in 1:10. She would then fall to the consolation bracket and earn another fall win this time in 1:23. Melnyk would drop her next two matches, including the seventh-place game, to earn eighth. 

 

Jazmyne Lake and Gabriela Hotaj would earn 1-3 and 1-2 records, respectively. Lake earned a sixth-place finish. 

 

Aleah Swilley, London Crossley, and Madison Stirrett would all go 0-2 for the tournament.

Julia Snyder will head to the NAIA Championships on March 13-14 at the Heartland Credit Union Arena in Wichita, Kansas.
