Women's Wrestling earns 10th-place finish; 3 wrestlers place within top-7

(Albion, MI) - The Rochester Christian women's wrestling team traveled to Albion, Michigan for the Albion Open on Sunday. The Warriors as a team finished in 10th place, with three wrestlers earning places within the top-7. As a whole the team recorded a 10-12 record. 

Leading the way with a 4th place finish was Ember Marriott. Marriott went 2-2 with her two wins coming via falls at 1:02 and 1:36. 

Next up was Megan Melnyk, who earned a fifth-place finish and a 4-2 record. After dropping her first match, Melnyk earned three straight wins all coming from falls at 1:09, 0:18, and 1:18. Melnyk would win her fifth-place match also by a fall in 0:41. 

The third placer for RCU was Jewlie Gonzales. Gonzales earned a 2-2 on her way to a seventh-place finish. Gonzales won her first match by tech fall (13-3) and her second with a fall.

The team will be back in action on Thursday, when they host the Lourdes Grey Wolves on November 20 at 7 PM.
