SEASON PREVIEW: Women's Wrestling set to begin 2025-26 season at Tiffin Open on Saturday

(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian women's wrestling team is set to begin its 2025-26 season tomorrow, November 1st, at Tiffin University for the Tiffin Open. Head Coach Wesley Maskill is in his fourth season leading the Warriors. 

2024-25 SEASON RECAP

The Warriors saw improvement across the board in their fourth season of competition. The season saw Julia Snyder earn her first career placement at the Tiffin Open, placing fifth, as well as winning the program's first Open Championship at the Alma Open, where she would go 3-0 on the weekend. 

SCHEDULE OUTLOOK

Following an opening weekend in Ohio, the Warriors will have a pair of invites on November 9 and 16 at Adrian and Albion before rounding out the month on the 20th with a duel vs. Lourdes. 

December will see the Warriors travel to Kentucky on the 5th and 6th for the Cumberlands Duels, before heading back to Tiffin for the Holiday Duels on the 14th. 

2026 will begin with a home duel against Davenport on the 8th and close out with a duel at Siena Heights on the 29th. Throughout the month, they will travel to a pair of Opens at Alma and Indiana Tech on the 17th and the weekend of the 23rd and 24th, respectively. 

The Warriors will compete three times before the Mid-South Conference Championships. The team will travel to John Carroll on the 1st, before heading to Lindsey Wilson to compete at the Blue Raider Open on the 7th. The final tune-up before postseason will be a duel with Indiana Tech at home on the 11th. The Mid-South Championships will be held in Bowling Green, Kentucky, on February 20th. 

The NAIA National Championships will be held at the Park City Arena in Wichita, Kansas, on March 13-14 to close out the season. 

MID-SOUTH OUTLOOK

Four teams rank inside the top-10 in the NAIA Preseason Coaches Poll, led by NAIA Defending National Champions Life University at number one, earning 193 points. Cumberlands (5th, 158 points), Indiana Tech (7th, 116), and Lindsey Wilson (10th, 99) round out the top-10 rankings. Campbellsville also received rankings inside the top-25, being 19th with 53 points. Lourdes and Montreat are sitting outside the top 25, as they are receiving votes. 

Several MSC wrestlers are within the top-5 of their respective rankings, led by Life's Zaynah McBryde (138-lb) and Latifah McBryde (160-lb) being first, while Cumberlands Micah Fisher-Miller (160-lb) and Indiana Tech's Riley Dempewolf (207-lb) are both ranked second.

The Warriors are led by Head Coach Wes Maskill and assisted by Dr. Gregory Czar, Jackson Schenk, Don Maskill, Brandon Rank, Anthony Gonzales, Kenny Snyder, and Dr. Christopher Passalacqua.

The team this season is comprised of 16 student-athletes, led by two juniors, six sophomores, and eight freshmen.
