Track And Field Competes At Oakland University’s Elaine Leigh Invite
Rochester Hills, MI - The Warriors return to Oakland University for the Elaine Leigh Invite for another great couple of days of competition. School records and National Qualifying marks were achieved.
Rochester Hills, MI - The Warriors return to Oakland University for the Elaine Leigh Invite for another great couple of days of competition. School records and National Qualifying marks were achieved.
Alec Shaw qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships. Alec placed 4th in the 1500m with a time of 3:52.78 * Going up against a stacked field, Alec was ranked 13th in the race with NCAA Division 1 talent from Eastern Michigan, Oakland, and Valparaiso University.
The Distance Warriors raised the bar once again. Kylie Jones ran her first sub-20 minute 5000m with an exceptional time of 19:42.02. 3 Men Warriors went under the 16-minute mark in the 5000m, and two Warriors broke under the previous school record of 15:47; Brad Baxter ran a personal best of 15:46.50, and your multi-program record holder Wyatt Emmons now holds the current record of 15:45.87.
Amanda Usrey with yet another record-setting performance in the 400m. Amanda ran a 1:02.92, placing 11th. The record-breaking freshman hopes to continue smashing records and raising the bar for incoming athletes in the future.
Heather Eller ran a spectacular race in the 3000m Steeplechase just missing the NAIA B Standard by 8 seconds. Heather gapped the field and placed first by over 10 seconds. Heather looks forward to the WHAC Conference Championships, where she will again take another shot at the national qualifying standard.
The Warriors will compete in the Alumni Legacy Meet at Concordia University Ann Arbor on April 28-29, the final meet before the WHAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 4-5) at Sienna Heights University.
