Women's Soccer rounds out Regular Season with 8-1 win at Defiance

(Defiance, OH) - The Rochester Christian women's soccer team closed out the regular season at Defiance College with a matchup against the Yellow Jackets. The Warriors scored four goals in each half, led by Makenna Kennedy and Jenna Schodowski, each netting a brace. 

The Warriors improved their season record to 7-7-4 overall and 3-4-4 in WHAC play. The Yellow Jackets end their season with a 3-14-1 overall record and 0-11-0 in conference play. 

The Warriors started their scoring outburst in the third minute with Mya Freeland netting the goal and an assist coming from Aliana Perez on a corner kick. Only five minutes later, Makenna Kennedy scored her first goal of the game. 

The Warriors would continue to put a flurry of shots on the DC goalkeeper and would quickly net their next two goals in the 21st and 22nd minutes from Olivia Howes and Makenna Kennedy. Kennedy Fraser and Noelle Preast assisted on Howes' goal, while Victoria Kebbe made the pass on Kennedy's goal. 

The second half began very similarly to the first, with RCU scoring in the 55th minute off the foot of Jenna Schodowski and an assist from Makenna Kennedy. In the 60th minute, Noelle Preast added to the scoring on a pass from Jenna Schodowski. 

The final two goals saw Jenna Schodowski net her brace and Kaylah Joyce grab a goal as well. DC would end up putting a goal on the board by way of a penalty kick. 

Brooklyn Perron (6-7-3) made four saves against the five shots she faced in her 90 minutes of play.

The Warriors will begin the WHAC tournament on Saturday, November 1, when they head down to the top-seeded Northwestern Ohio Racers for the conference quarterfinals.
