Women's Soccer falls in tightly contested match with #23 UNOH

(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian women's soccer team took on the #23 Racers from Northwestern Ohio on Saturday evening and fell in a tightly contested match. All three goals were scored in the first half, with both teams pushing hard in the second half. The Racers improve on their season record and make it 12-3-0 overall and remain in a tie for first place in the WHAC standings with an 8- 1- 0 record. The Warriors fall to 6-6-4 overall, and 2-3-4 in conference play.

UNOH outshot the Warriors on the offensive side 9-7, with the advantage coming in the second half, 3-1. RCU did force the Racers' defense to defend the corner kicks, though, recording six corners to the Racers' one.

Brooklyn Perron (5-6-3) earned the loss in net for RCU, recording four saves against the six shots she faced.

Northwestern Ohio got on the board early in the match, scoring in the 12th minute on an unassisted goal. The Racers would add an early insurance goal just 14 minutes later to go up 2-0.

RCU's lone goal of the match came when the Warriors took advantage of one of its corner kicks as Mya Freeland was able to hit the back of the net off of Aliana Perez's kick. The goal was Freeland's third of the season, while Perez earned her team-leading fifth assist.

UNOH saw a couple of different opportunities within the final five minutes of play, but a combination of Brooklyn Perrron and the Warriors' defense kept the game at a one-goal difference.
