Women's Soccer nets 4-1 win over Michigan-Dearborn

(Dearborn, MI) - The Rochester Christian women's soccer team headed down to Dearborn, Michigan, to square up against the Wolverines of Michigan-Dearborn. The Warriors were able to use a record-setting performance from Olivia Howes to claim the 4-1 win and a crucial three points in the conference standings. RCU improves its record to 6-5-4 overall and 2-2-4 in conference play, while UMD falls to 2-10-3 overall and 1-5-2 in conference play. 

 

Jenna Schodowski started the scoring early with a goal off a pass from Makenna Kennedy, the first assist of three on the night, just three-and-a-half minutes into the match. With the Warriors controlling the pace of play throughout the first half, they were able to grab a goal from Olivia Howes, to tie the program goals record, and give the Warriors a 2-0 lead. Jenna Schdowski would earn an assist on the play. 

 

Coming out of halftime, the Warriors countered a Wolverine possession, in which Makenna Kennedy sent a deep pass down to Olivia Howes, where she was able to beat the keeper for the record-breaking goal. 

 

 

Just over 12 minutes later, Olivia Howes and Makenna Kennedy would each complete their own hat-trick on the evening, with Howes taking another solid pass from Kennedy for their third goal and assist, respectively. 

 

Dearborn would add a goal in the final minute of play to avoid the shutout. 

 

Brooklyn Perron (5-5-3) earned the win in the match, playing nearly 72 minutes on the evening. She saved all four shots she faced. Karli South would play the final 18 minutes and make one save against the pair of shots she faced.

The Warriors' final two home games will be against the #23 Northwestern Ohio Racers and the #24 Aquinas Saints. RCU will take on the Racers on Saturday, October 18, at 7 PM at the Michigan Stars Soccer Complex.
