Ritchie and Nieman compete at the USBC ISC Nationals

(Green Bay, WI) - The Rochester Christian women's bowling team sent a pair of bowlers to the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercollegiate Singles Championships (ISC) for the first time in program history. The event would take place at the Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley in Green Bay, Wisconsin. 

 

The first day of the event featured the 24 collegiate bowlers bowl six qualifying games and then be placed into a 24-person bracket with the top eight bowlers receiving a first-round bye. Each bracket round would feature the athletes bowling three games, and the highest score would advance until the semifinals and the National Championship round, where it would be a one-game series.

 

RCU QUALIFYING ROUND

Sara Ritchie finished the qualifying round in 23rd place as she totaled 1,003 pins throughout the six games. Ritchie hit a game high of 209. 

 

Kenzi Nieman completed her six qualifying games in 24th place, totaling 978 pins and hitting a game high og 190. 

 

RCU BRACKET PLAY

Sara Ritchie would take on Kaitlyn Stull from Jacksonville State in the opening round of bracket play. Ritchie would bowl games of 188-173-193 to finish with a total score of 554, while Stull bowled games of 226-212-211, finishing with a 649 score to advance to the next round. 

 

Kenzie Nieman would battle Hope Tafolla from Sacred Heart University. Nieman scored a 168-152-163 to total 483 pins, while Tafolla scored 174-183-188 pins to move on to the next round with a total of 545 pins.
