Women's Bowling see's Nieman and Ritchie claiming ISC Nationals bids after Sectionals performances
(Pittsburgh, PA) - The Rochester Christian women's bowling team competed at the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercollegiate Singles and Team Championships Sectionals this weekend, and saw a pair of bowlers advance to the ISC Nationals for the first time in program history.
The ISC event featured six-game bowling, with the top five advancing to the ISC Championships in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
The ITC event saw teams compete in bowling 64 baker games across two days, with the top four teams in each sectional advancing to the Championships in Green Bay.
RCU ISC SCORES
Kenzie Nieman took the top spot for the Warriors and the field of 163 bowlers, totaling 1,271 pins over her six games bowled. She bowled a high game of 274 in her third game. Sara Ritchie took the second bid to the ISC Nationals after bowling 1,269 pins and recording a 225 high game. Nieman and Ritchie averaged 211.83 and 211.50 scores, respectively, with Ritchie not getting a score below 200.
Molly Crouch finished the tournament in 31st place and scored 1,128 pins as she was 80 pins away from also qualifying for Nationals. Crouch tallied a 204 high game. Riley Brownrigg and Jazmin Brant were the next two top scorers for the team with pinfalls of 1,088 and 1,008, respectively. Brownrigg scored a 212 high game, while Brant recorded a 195 high game.
The final three bowlers were Sage Malott, Anna Dosenberger, and Emerson Rietsch. Malott finished the tournament with a 972 score and a 194 high game. Dosenberger totaled 922 pins and a 202 high game, and Rietsch finished off the scoring with a 898 and a 180 high game.
RCU RECORD BOOKS
Kenzie Nieman and Sara Ritchie both enter the top-10 for a six-game series, entering the record books as the third and fourth-best marks with their scores of 1,271 and 1,269.
RCU ITC SCORES
The Warriors finished the event in ninth place as they totaled 11,491 total pins throughout the 64 baker games. RCU finished 523 pins outside the top four, narrowly missing out on attending the ITC Nationals as a team.
