Women's Bowling places 16th, Nieman 5th at the Midwest Collegiate Classic

(Addison, IL) - The Rochester Christian women's bowling team headed to Illinois to compete at the Midwest Collegiate Classic at the Stardust Lanes on Saturday. The event featured 55 teams bowling in five team games, followed by 16 baker games.

 

RCU would finish the event in 16th place after earning a total pinfall of 7,501 pins. They would earn 4,635 pins throughout the team games and earn 2,866 pins in the baker games.

 

RCU SCORES

Kenzi Nieman was the top bowler for the Warriors, placing fifth at the tier-1 event, throughout the team series with a total score of 1,070 pins and a high game of 231. Next up was Sage Malott who totaled 924 pins over the five games, while bowling a high game of 199. Sara Ritchie was the next bowler for the team, finishing eight pins behind Mallott with 916, while hitting a 198 high game. 

 

Riley Brownrigg was the sole bowler to go in three games for RCU, totaling 502 pins, averaging 167.33 pins per game and a high game of 182. 

 

A trio of Warriors finished with two games, as Emerson Rietsch, Molly Crouch, and Nataleigh Eagle bowled series of 362, 356, and 348, respectively. Crouch had the highest game out of the trio with a 205, followed by Rietsch with a 192, and Eagle at 190. 

 

Jazmin Brant was the final bowler for the event for RCU, totaling 157 pins in her sole game. 

 

RCU RECORDS

Two separate records were set over the weekend with the team series average of 927 being the high mark in program history, while Kenzi Nieman also earned the top individual spot with her score of 1,070 over the five games. 

 

REST OF FIELD PERFORMANCES

Mount Mercy would earn the top team spot for the event after totaling 8,163 total pins at the event. 

 

Rachel Moore from Culver-Stockton earned the top individual spot for the tournament, earning a total pinfall of 1,111 pins, while averaging 222.2 pins per game and bowling a high game of 276.

The Warriors will get back on the lanes on Saturday, January 24, as they take on the final WHAC tournament of the regular season at the Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Michigan.
