WHAC RELEASES WBB AWARDS; MERSHIMER AND SOMERS EARN ALL-CONFERENCE SELECTIONS

The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference has released the 2023-24 WHAC Women's Basketball Awards, and senior Celeste Mershimer headlines the Warriors with a First Team All-Conference selection - the first of her career. Joining her at the All-Conference table was freshman Jacey Somers, who was named to the WHAC's Second Team.

Mershimer earns the nod after posting averages of 16.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. Mershimer's selection makes it seven consecutive seasons that the Warriors have had a WHAC First Team All-Conference nominee. To add, Mershimer was selected as the Warriors' Champions of Character Team nominee.

Somers' Second Team All-Conference nod is the first time a true freshman has made a conference nomination for Rochester since forward Cianna Gloster did so in the 2020-21 season. Additionally, the forward was named to the WHAC All-Freshman Team. Somers averaged 11.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.0 blocks per game in her inaugural season.

Four Warriors - Mershimer, Imari Martin, Melanie Moore, and Dakotah Krohn - were named to the WHAC All-Academic Team.
