WARRIORS STRUGGLE AGAINST #21 INDIANA TECH; MERSHIMER SCORES 32

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. - It was a tough go for Rochester at home on Saturday afternoon, falling to #21 Indiana Tech 83-43. It was a struggle for the Warriors with shooting in the second half, as Indiana Tech found openings inside for easy baskets. 

Senior Celeste Mershimer led the Warriors in a big way, scoring 32 points including 18 in the first half, while grabbing seven rebounds. Forward Ella Burger also made an impact on the glass, grabbing six rebounds while scoring four points. 

THE RUNDOWN

FIRST HALF

• It was a competitive opening quarter for Rochester, with Mershimer punishing Indiana Tech inside with several tough layups to get things going. Mershimer scored 14 points in the quarter, putting the visitors in a tough spot on the defensive end. Indiana Tech found answers on the other end of the floor, finding holes in Rochester's zone for layups inside
• Mershimer used a great hesitation move to get a visiting defender jumping in the air to get a layup to the delight of the bench
• The second quarter started to unravel a bit for the Warriors, who went down by double digits after a run from Indiana Tech. Rochester had trouble finding answers, but got a big three from Shahd Bakkar

SECOND HALF

• Mershimer continued to press forward, scoring nine of the team's 11 points in the third quarter to keep Rochester fighting. However, the defensive side was a challenge for the Warriors, with Indiana Tech slashing inside and getting tough points to stay ahead
• The fourth quarter wasn't much better for the Warriors, who were shut down at 2-24 shooting. Indiana Tech continued to grow its lead ahead of the final buzzer

STAT OF THE GAME

Mershimer's 32 points marks the third time the guard has scored 25 or more in a single game this season.

Rochester will look to swing back in the right direction against #RV Siena Heights on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 6 p.m. in SHU Fieldhouse.
