(Livonia, MI) - The Rochester Christian softball team headed down to Livonia, Michigan, for a tough doubleheader against the second-ranked Madonna Crusaders on Wednesday.
GAME 1 - MADONNA 11, ROCHESTER CHRISTIAN 0
Kaylie Rickert (3-6) took the loss in the game after allowing six runs (four earned) on 10 hits.
The Crusaders got the early lead in the game and would keep adding runs, scoring two in the first, four in the third, and five in the fourth innings.
Makayla Lezotte would grab the sole RCU hit in the game in the fifth inning.
Rory Miller closed out the final inning, allowing five runs on three hits.
GAME 2 - MADONNA 6, ROCHESTER CHRISTIAN 0
Emily Leusby (3-11) pitched the complete game from the circle, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits with a pair of strikeouts.
The Crusaders got the scoring started right away in the first inning, grabbing runs off a pair of RCU errors, making it 2-0. The Crusaders hit an RBI triple in the second inning, tallying a third run in the game.
The third, fifth, and seventh innings saw the Warriors leave two baserunners stranded in each innings. Ella Hayes hit a single and Jaya Forti worked a seven-pitch walk in the third. Emily Leusby walked and Forti hit a single in the fourth as RCU stranded runners at second and third. The final inning saw Emily Leusby hitting a single and Ella Hayes reaching on an error before Madonna got the final two outs of the game.
