Softball drops non-conference bout against Oakland
(Rochester, MI) - The Rochester Christian softball team headed down the road to Oakland University to take on the Golden Grizzlies in a single game on Tuesday afternoon. The Warriors pulled in tight in the fifth inning, before OU pulled away in the sixth.
Emily Leusby (3-10) pitched the first five innings, allowing eight runs (six earned) on 11 hits.
Following a quick 1-2-3 top of the first inning for RCU, Oakland grabbed three runs in the bottom half of the inning with a couple of singles and doubles, taking the early lead.
The next couple of innings, both teams would leave runners stranded before RCU was able to draw within a run in the fifth inning. After Makayla Lezotte and Brooklyn Ross led off the inning with a single and a walk, respectively, Ella Hayes was able to bring in both runners with a single to center field.
Oakland would be able to pull away in the sixth inning, taking advantage of an error and a couple of singles to extend the lead out to 8-2.
Rory Miller finished out the sixth inning, not allowing a hit or a run.
