Softball falls to UMD on Senior Day, Game 2 suspended in second inning

(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian softball team took on the Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines in a Saturday bout. RCU celebrated their senior day with Jaya Forti, Emma Cronkright, Katie Witkowski, Kaylie Rickert, and Ella Hayes all being honored following the first game.
GAME 1 - MICHIGAN-DEARBORN 9, ROCHESTER CHRISTIAN 3
Kaylie Rickert (3-5) opened the game on the mound for RCU, pitching the first 1.1 innings, allowing seven runs (six earned) on seven hits.
Both teams got in the scoring column in the first inning, with UMD scoring on a fly ball and Emma Cronkright hitting a sacrifice bunt to score Jaya Forti.
The Wolverines plated six runs in the second inning, pushing the lead out to 7-1, in an inning where they had a pair of home runs.
RCU plated a second run in the third inning on a double steal with Chloe Gildea stealing second and Jaya Forti stealing home. Another run was put on the board for the Warriors in the fourth inning as Emma Hoover knocked her first career home run out to left-center field.
UMD scored another run in the top of the fourth and fifth innings to close out the first game.
Rory Miller closed out the last 5.2 innings, with two runs (one earned) on a pair of hits with a trio of strikeouts.
GAME 2 - ROCHESTER CHRISTIAN 1, MICHIGAN-DEARBORN 1 - SUSPENDED
Emily Leusby pitched the game's two innings in the circle, allowing one run on three hits with a strikeout.
Both teams would once again plate runs in the first inning, with UMD hitting an RBI groundout and RCU scoring on an Angelina Viviano single up the middle to score Jaya Forti.
UMD threatened to score in the top of the second on a wild pitch, but a solid bounce and the Warriors were able to get the run out at the plate.
Following the out at home plate, the game would be suspended to a future date, due to heavy rain.

The Warriors will take a slight break from conference play, as they take on the Oakland Golden Grizzlies on Tuesday, April 7, in a single game, beginning at 3 PM.
