Softball drops midweek matchup to Blue Devils
(Farmington Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian softball team took on the Blue Devils from Lawrence Tech at The Hawk in Farmington Hills for a midweek conference matchup.
GAME 1 - LAWRENCE TECH 13, ROCHESTER CHRISTIAN 4
Amber Lamphier (2-4) started the game in the circle for RCU with four innings, allowing 11 runs (six earned) with five strikeouts.
Following a scoreless top of the first inning, RCU got on the board with Jaya Forti hitting a single and Emma Hoover reaching on a walk. After a fielder's choice, Angelina Viviano would single home Emma Hoover, making it 1-0.
LTU would rebound over the next two innings with a run in the second, followed by five in the third, including an inside-the-park home run.
After Amber Lamphier held the Blue Devils scoreless in the fourth, RCU put up four runs on a pair of hits, making it 6-4. Makayla Lezotte started the rally with a walk, and Amber Lamphier hit a single. After a couple of outs, Chloe Gildea hit an RBI single, before Jaya Forti knocked a 2-RBI double to left field.
The Blue Devils would put the game away, tallying seven runs (three earned) in the top of the fifth inning, to put the game out of reach for the Warriors.
Kaylie Rickert pitched the final inning for the Warriors, allowing two unearned runs on two hits.
GAME 2 - LAWRENCE TECH 6, ROCHESTER CHRISTIAN 0
Emily Luesby (3-7) started the game in the circle, pitching the first five innings, allowing five runs on eight hits, striking out one batter.
After LTU earned a run in the top of the first, RCU got a pair of hits from Chloe Gildea and Angelina Viviano to threaten before the final out was made. The BDevils grabbed another pair of runs in the second to make it 3-0.
RCU would once again get two runners on base in the third with Jaya Forti hitting a single and Chloe Gildea getting hit by a pitch. LTU grabbed runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth to build the lead out to the final score of 6-0.
Rory Miller closed out the final two innings with one run on five hits and a strikeout.

The Warriors head to Ohio for four games, starting with Lourdes on Saturday, March 28, at 1 PM, followed by four games at Defiance on Sunday, March 29.
