Rochester Christian (Mich.)
(Rochester, MI) - The Rochester Christian softball team opened up both its home schedule and its Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) schedule on Saturday against the Warriors from Indiana Tech. The doubleheader saw Indiana Tech earn the sweep with a 13-0 and a 11-1 win. RCU falls to 8-12 on the season.
GAME 1 - INDIANA TECH 13, ROCHESTER CHRISTIAN 0
Amber Lamphier (2-3) began the game on the mound for the Warriors, pitching three innings, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits with a strikeout.
After a quick first two innings on both sides, Indiana Tech was able to take piece together multiple hits in the third inning to take a 6-0 lead. RCU threatened in the bottom half of the inning with a single from Chloe Gildea and a single from Jaya Forti, but both runners were stranded.
Indiana Tech would tally seven runs over the final two innings to push the lead out to 13 to end the game with the run rule.
Kaylie Rickert closed out the final two innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits.
GAME 2 - INDIANA TECH 11, ROCHESTER CHRISTIAN 1
Emily Leausby (3-5) pitched the full game in the circle, allowing nine earned runs on 13 hits, striking out a pair of batters.
Indiana Tech hot bats stayed that way to start the second game with a trio of runs in the first before earning two more in the third on a home run.
RCU scored their first run of the day off the bat of Chloe Gildea who hit a single up the middle to score Meghan Ducharme.
Indiana Tech would continue to hit, scoring three more runs in each of the fourth and sixth innings to earn the 11-1 win in six innings.
UP NEXT
The Warriors will be back in action tomorrow, March 22, with a doubleheader against Northwestern Ohio with the games being played in Livonia, Michigan at Madonna's home field.
