Erin Benschoter named next RCU Softball Head Coach

(Rochester Hills, MI) - Warrior Athletics is excited to welcome Erin Benschoter as Rochester Christian University's new Softball Head Coach ahead of the 2026 season. 

Benschoter most recently returned to her alma mater as an Assistant Coach and the Pitching Coach at Oakland University. During her time as a coach for the Golden Grizzlies, Benschoter helped to train and develop the pitching staff, which was able to record a 3.55 team ERA. 

"I want to thank Athletic Director Clayton Bissett for this amazing opportunity. The town of Rochester has always been a special place for me, and from the moment I stepped on campus at RCU, it felt like the place I was supposed to be. I am excited for this new chapter of RCU softball and am excited to flip the script and create a new chapter for Warrior softball," said Coach Benschoter. 

During her decorated playing career at Oakland, Benschoter was twice named to a Horizon League All-Conference team, including a First Team honor in 2015. Oakland would earn the 2015 Horizon League Tournament Championship with Benschoter being named Tournament Pitcher of the Year. In 2017, she earned Second Team honors and recorded a 1.67 ERA, which was top-50 in Division 1 that season. 

Athletic Director Clayton Bissett had this to say about Benschoter joining the staff at RCU. "We are very fortunate and excited to be able to bring Coach Benschoter aboard.  She brings a great combination of coaching and recruiting experience to the table.  She is eager to get on the recruiting trail and we are excited to see what the season has in store for our softball program."

Following her playing career, Benschoter spent time at Armada High School as a Head Coach, where she was named the 2020 District Coach of the Year.
