BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. - The Warriors' (2-15) home-opening doubleheader left more to be desired on March 29, as the team fell to the Saint Francis Fighting Saints (16-8) in both games. The Warriors had a hard time finding success at bat, with the visitors out-hitting RCU 24-6 across the two games.
GAME ONE - L, 0-8
The first inning was a less-than-ideal start for the Warriors, finding themselves down 4-0 after a slew of errors. Sophomore Jaya Forti gave the Warriors a chance to respond with a triple to right field, but the Warriors' baserunner was caught out at home plate to prevent a score.
The Warriors were kept quiet throughout the rest of the innings, as a homer from Saint Francis extended the lead to 6-0 in the fourth inning. More quick outs kept the Warriors from any opportunity to close the gap. Two more home runs in the fifth and sixth innings by the Fighting Saints shut the game down, as the Warriors couldn't get a score to close the lead.
GAME TWO - L, 0-9
Despite improved hitting in the second game, the Warriors still couldn't get to home plate to counteract the visitors' scoring. After conceding a run in the first inning, the game opened up for Saint Francis in the second with five scores to put RCU in a compromising spot.
The Fighting Saints continued to score runs in the third and fourth innings, while the Warriors did not get more than a single. In the fifth inning, things got put away after a quick three outs against the Warriors.
