LIMA, Ohio - It was a tough start to WHAC play for the Warriors (2-11, 0-2) on March 24, with the team falling in both games of a doubleheader against Northwestern Ohio (13-9, 2-0). The bats weren't going for the Warriors in either contest, while the Racers found scoring bursts to keep the game out of reach.
GAME ONE - L, 0-7
After a quick first inning, the Racers snatched the lead in the second inning after quickly ending the Warriors' at-bats. In the first four innings, the Warriors didn't see any of them reach a base, as the Racers built a 5-0 lead. Isabella Asai had a strong game at second base, being involved in most of the outs for the red and black during that stretch.
In the fifth inning, the Warriors got some base action following a walk for senior Alicia McConnell. However, the Warriors quickly logged two outs by way of fielder's choices. Two Warriors - Asai and Jayde Dominey-McLean - got on base, but the inning would come to a disappointing end after the Racers caught the Warriors attempting to steal.
The Racers added two more runs to the lead in the final two innings, capitalizing on a couple of errors by RCU. The hosts put the game away defensively in the top of the seventh, ending a chance of a Warrior comeback on a strikeout.
GAME TWO - L, 1-9
Things didn't get much better for RCU in the second game, with the Racers scoring seven unanswered in the first three innings to take a commanding lead. The Warriors got their first score of the day in the fourth inning, set up by a double from McConnell to center field.
With two outs, McConnell and McLean took advantage of a fielding error by the Racers, with the senior duo reaching home and first base, respectively. However, the Racers responded with two runs to get the lead over eight. The top of the fifth ended on a double play to complete the doubleheader at the expense of the Warriors.
