vs. Lourdes University - Wednesday, April 12 - 1:00 PM - Doubleheader
It's finally here!
After weather cancellations left and right, mother nature decided to finally allow Warrior Softball to get its first home game of the 2023 season with great weather emerging for Wednesday's contest against the Lourdes Gray Wolves (7-21, 1-10).
Lourdes recently broke the ice for their first WHAC win against Aquinas College, splitting a doubleheader with the Saints on Monday afternoon. For the Gray Wolves, wins on the road have been hard to come by, as the team is 0-5 when traveling.
Freshman catcher Maddie Darrah is the team's leader in batting statistics, with an SLG % of .549. Darrah has hit 13 doubles during the season, along with nine RBI. Alongside Darrah at bat is senior midfielder Emily Wallace, who's hit three home runs this season while sporting a .425 SLG %.
Rochester is currently slated to play Wednesday's game at Jaycee Field, but that could change in the days leading up to the contest.
@ Siena Heights University - Saturday, April 15 - 1:00 PM - Doubleheader
The busy weekend for the Warriors will start with a trip to Adrian Michigan for a matchup against the Siena Heights Saints (5-22, 1-7). The Saints also enter the week with their first WHAC win of the season, having defeated Cornerstone University thanks to a walk-off single on Monday afternoon.
Hitting that walk-off single was sophomore infielder Courtnee Chappetta, who's among three other Saints with a batting average of .400 or higher. In 27 games, Chappetta leads the Saints in RBI with 23.
Leading the pitching for the Saints is sophomore Shyann Truax, who's appeared in 21 games for the Saints, starting 14 of them. Truax has struck out 62 batters this season while sporting an ERA of 4.69.
@ Lawrence Tech University - Sunday, April 16 - 1:00 PM - Doubleheader
Wrapping up the week for the Warriors will be a Sunday matchup against the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils (14-13, 5-5). The Blue Devils enter the week looking to break out of trading wins and losses.
Most recently, the Blue Devils defeated Cornerstone on Saturday afternoon, splitting a doubleheader between the teams. Catcher Morgan James has been one of the stars of the roster, with 17 RBI on the season to lead the team.
Freshman outfielder Alyssa Bloomfield has also been a bright spot on the batting side for LTU, with an SLG % of .542, leading the team in hits with 32.
