FORT WAYNE, IN - Warrior Softball was swept by Indiana Tech on Thursday evening, with the Warriors playing a much stronger second game in the doubleheader.
Game 1 - Final: 1-9
The first game was all Indiana Tech, with Rochester unable to overcome an early deficit in the first inning. Tech continued to mount the pressure, going up six runs in three innings. The Warriors were able to find a bright spot with a home run by junior Alicia McConnell in the fourth inning.
Indiana Tech responded by scoring two runs in the fifth and one run in the sixth to put the game away.
Game 2 - Final: 3-8
Rochester put the pressure on in the second game, looking much stronger as a unit and giving Tech plenty of fits in the outfield in the fourth inning. Both teams remained scoreless after the first two innings, but when it seemed like Tech was ready to pull away in the third after scoring four runs, Rochester hit back with three runs in the fourth.
McConnell and freshman Sarah Hall got on base for the Warriors, and Kylee Dillard mounted the pressure when she singled to center field, loading the bases. Sophomore Giorgia Verni capitalized with a three RBI double, getting all three base runners to home plate.
Rochester's momentum would be halted when Tech scored two runs in the fifth inning. Following that up, the home team scored another two runs in the sixth, while holding Rochester scoreless after the fourth-inning stretch.
