NAIA CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP DAY 3: Alayan closes out NAIA Tournament run in 4th

(Park City, KS) - The Rochester Christian men's wrestling team saw the season officially come to an end on the final day of the NAIA National Championships. The Warriors would place 24th out of the 63 teams at the tournament. RCU was the third-highest WHAC team in the tournament. 

Nickolas Alayan came into the day starting in the consolation semifinal, going up against #10 Izaeah Beavers from Campbellsville (KY). Beavers led Alayan 5-4 following the first period, before adding another three points in the second. Alayan would have a late comeback in the period, scoring a nearfall to tie the match at eight with 17 seconds remaining. Alayan earned his ninth point with riding time to advance to the third-place game. 

The third-place match saw a rematch of the WHAC Championship as Alayan would take on #6 Luke Rioux from Indiana Tech. Rioux took an early lead and eventually earned an 11-3 major decision.
