NAIA CHAMPIONSHIP DAY 2: Men's Wrestling's Alayan earns program's first All-American

(Park City, KS) - The Rochester Christian men's wrestling continued on Friday, on the second day of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championships. 

Nickolas Alayan was able to continue his dominance to kick off the day with his third straight pin of the tournament, this time doing so in 4:46 over the #4-ranked wrestler. With the win, not only would Alayan clinch a spot in the Semifinal round, but he would also clinch his position as the program's first-ever NAIA All-American. 

Alayan continued the evening as he would take on the top-ranked Aaron Lucio and saw the match go to a decision, falling in a tight 6-1 match. 

Jacob Gonzales' run at the NAIA Tournament would fall short on the second day, falling in his first match, fourth of the tournament, by way of an 8-6 decision to the 12th-ranked Jagger Tyler. Gonzales would bow out of the tournament with a 2-2 record.

Nickolas Alayan returns to action tomorrow, taking part in the Consolation Semifinal, as he will then either battle for third or fifth-place. His first match of the day will see him take on #10 Izaeah Beavers.
