Trio of Warriors earn Men's Wrestling WHAC Postseason Awards
(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) released its postseason awards and honors following the WHAC Championships on Saturday, and several Warrior wrestlers earned honors.
FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE | MOST OUTSTANDING WRESTLER
NICKOLAS ALAYAN | SR | MACOMB, MICHIGAN
Nickolas Alayan took home the program's first WHAC Championship after wrestling to a 2-0 record at the tournament. Alayan earned a 4-0 record in the WHAC regular season and recorded a 13-2 record overall on the season. Alayan was ranked eighth in the NAIA in the most recent Top-25 poll and would wind up upsetting the third-ranked wrestler in the championship match.
SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE
JACOB GONZALES | SO | HOLLY, MICHIGAN
Jacob Gonzales wrestled his way to a second-place finish in the 174-pound weight class with a 3-1 record to earn Second Team All-Conference honors. Gonzales had a 1-0 record in WHAC duals this season, while accumulating an 11-5 overall record.
CHAMPIONS OF CHARACTER TEAM
Dakota Quinlan was recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The senior was honored for his commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
WHAC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
The WHAC announced its All-Academic teams, which include sophomores and above in Academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.25. The four Warriors honored were Marcus Abdal, Peyton Frederick, Cristian Rojas, and David VanDaele
