Men's Volleyball wraps up season at Lourdes and Mount Vernon

(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's volleyball team rounded out its inaugural season on Saturday with a match against Mount Vernon. 

MATCH 1 - LOURDES 3, ROCHESTER CHRISTIAN 0

After an initial 7-0 Lourdes run to begin the game, Josh Eaton got the first RCU point. Lourdes continued to make a run in the set, with only a couple of errors, before Jonathan Chow added a kill. 

Jeremy Lee and Josh Eaton got RCU their first points of the set, as Lourdes scored ten of the first 14 points. Xander Slate and Claudio Arato both added kills as RCU got within four points at 11-7. The Gray Wolves, though, were able to finish out the set with a 14-4 run. 

The Warriors began the final set with a 4-1 run, with Josh Eaton and Jeremy Lee both earning kills. The Gray Wolves made their way back in the set, earning a 14-6 run. Claudio Arato, Josh Eaton, and Jeremy Lee added kills in the set before Lourdes ended the match. 

MATCH 2 - MOUNT VERNON 3, ROCHESTER CHRISTIAN 0

RCU and MVNU traded the first couple of points in the set, with Josh Eaton earning a couple of kills. Claudio Arato, Nehemiah Rosillo, and Jailen Tatum all added kills before the Cougar offense would end the first set. 

The Warriors got the first two points in the set from Jonathan Chow and an ace from Claudio Arato. The teams battled back and forth throughout the set with 10 ties occurring from 2-2 to 20-20. Nehemiah Rosillo and Jailen Tatum aided the RCU offense with kills, while Josh Eaton continued to rack up points. After RCU got to within a point at 21-20, the Cougars tallied the final four points in the set. 

The start of the final set saw Jeremy Lee earn back-to-back kills, making it an early 4-4 tie. Mount Vernon was able to slowly start to pull away in the set with 11 of the next 14 points, on their way to the match win.
