Men's Volleyball closes home stand, falling to Lourdes

(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's volleyball team rounded out its five-game home stand against the #11 Lourdes Gray Wolves on Saturday. The Warriors battled throughout each set, earning leads in each set, before the Gray Wolves were able to overpower RCU on the way to the 3-0 win. 

 

The Match started with the teams splitting the first 14 points, with Jailen Tatum earning the first points for the Warriors. After the tie, the Warriors went on a 4-0 run, including an ace from Nehemiah Rosillo and kills from Jonathan Chow and Claudio Arato. Lourdes responded, scoring 18 of the next 25 points to claim the first set. 

 

Lourdes jumped out to an early 10-4 lead that would propel them to the set win. Jeremy Lee earned the first RCU point with a kill. Josh Eaton would earn a couple of kills in the set, but long serving runs from the Gray Wolves would allow them to take set #2. 

 

Lourdes took an early 7-4 lead in the set before RCU stormed back with eight of the next nine points, taking advantage of a couple of LU errors as well as an Xander Slate ace. Both teams would battle back-and-forth, with LU taking a lead at 16-15 and scoring 10 of the final 13 points for the win. 

 

TOP PERFORMERS

Josh Eaton led the Warriors in the game with 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .429. Jonathan Chow earned 22 assists in the game. 

 

Josh Eaton led the back-end defense with six digs, while Nehemaih Rosillo tallied four digs. Xander Slate and Jailen Tatum both had two blocks on the day.

The Warriors will next head to Indiana to take on the Goshen Maple Leafs on Friday, February 27, at 7 PM.
