Men's Track and Field High Jumpers earn All-American status
(Gainesville, FL) - The Rochester Christian men's track and field team sent a pair of high jumpers down to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Championships in Florida. The Warriors gained five team points on the day.
Hayden Josef and Julian Holt both participated in the High Jump event on the opening day of the National Championships.
Both Josef and Holt hit the opening height of 1.99 meters on their first attempts as they were two of the six jumpers to do so. A total of 13 jumpers hit the opening height, with three making it on two attempts and four making it on three attempts.
Heading into the 2.04-meter round, all but four high jumpers would not hit the mark, including Julian Holt and Hayden Josef. Both RCU jumpers would place fifth in the event, as they both earned All-American status.
Josef and Holt join Andre Daniels as the three high jumpers who are the sole Men's Track and Field All-Americans in program history.
Hollis Morton from Brewton-Parker took home the Individual Championship, hitting the 2.07 meter height on his second jump, before hitting the winning mark of 2.10 meters on his first chance.
