Men's Soccer drops contest to Madonna on Saturday

(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's soccer team faced off against the 18th-ranked Madonna Crusaders on Saturday afternoon in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) battle. The Crusaders used a two-goal first half and a four-goal second half to propel themselves to a 6-1 win. The Warriors now own a record of 1-9-1 overall and 0-4-1 in WHAC play, while MU improves to 10-1-1 overall and 4-1-0 in conference. 

 

To begin the game, the Crusaders controlled the play for the majority of the first half, netting their first goal in the 10th minute from a penalty kick. The Warrior defense held strong until the 42nd minute when the Crusaders doubled their lead. 

 

The second half saw the Warriors come out with a strong offense, firing off four shots before the fifth hit the net on a penalty kick of their own from Shadrack Onyango in the 51st minute. 21 minutes went by before the next goal from Madonna hit the net, as the Crusader attacker scored his third of the game. 

 

The final nine minutes saw another three goals scored as the game ended 6-1. 

 

Uros Pavlovic (0-1-0) got his first start in net for the Warriors and would play the full 90 minutes. Pavlovic faced 16 shots, saving 10 of them.

The Warriors will hit the pitch next against Lawrence Tech on Wednesday, October 8, when they travel to Blue Devils Stadium in Southfield, Michigan, for a 7 PM kickoff.
