(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's soccer team took the field on Wednesday afternoon at the Michigan Stars Soccer Complex for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) matchup against the Golden Eagles from Cornerstone. Cornerstone was able to net a trio of goals in the first half to propel itself to the 4-1 victory. RCU drops to 1-8-1 overall and 0-3-1 in WHAC play, while CU improves its record to 4-5-0 overall and 2-2-0 in conference play.
The first half saw plenty of action with both teams anxious to make their runs, as there were a total of 10 offsides called in the first 45 minutes. Cornerstone was the first team to get into the scoring column both in the 13th and the 17th minute.
The Warriors were able to cut the deficit in half when Gadiel Herrera put a ball in the back of the net after solid passes from Andrija Mitkovi and Kristof Manni in the 44th minute. Cornerstone, though, was able to get back to a two-goal lead just before the half, scoring its second goal off a throw-in pass.
The second half saw much of the same offensive push from both sides, even though Cornerstone was able to rally off more shots, with one finding the back of the net in the final 45 minutes.
Kris Tauzik (1-8-1) took the loss on the day, playing the full 90 minutes, while making seven saves against the 11 shots he faced.
