Men's Soccer drops match on the road to Mount Vernon

(Mount Vernon, OH) - The Rochester Christian University Men's Soccer team began its five-game road trip with a matchup against Mount Vernon Nazarene. The two sides played tight in the first half, before the Cougars' offense grabbed four goals in the final 45 minutes. 

RCU entered the matchup with a 0-2-0 record while the Cougars were 2-0-1.

Both teams were getting their shots in throughout the first half as MVNU was able to narrowly outshoot RCU 13-9. RCU goalkeeper, Kris Tauzik, made seven saves in the first half of play before making five in the second half. 

The first goal of the game came in the 52nd minute, soon after an MVNU corner kick. An RCU foul gave Mount Vernon that ball back as they were able to tally a second goal just minutes later in the 54th minute. 

The Cougars kept the pressure on as they posted a third goal in the 66th minute. The fourth and final goal of the match came in the 72nd minute. Both teams kept the pressure on the goalie as RCU tallied a couple of corner kicks in the final 10 minutes, but to no avail, as the Warriors would fall 4-0.

The Warriors will take on #RV Grace (IN) on Saturday for game #2 of the road trip. RCU will travel to Winona Lake, IN, on Saturday, September 6, for a 5 PM kickoff.
