Men's Golf concludes season at WHAC Championship
(Yorktown, IN) - The Rochester Christian men's golf team rounded out its season at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Championships on Monday and Tuesday, competing at the Players Club at Woodland Trails. The WHAC also released its yearly postseason honors on Tuesday, as well following the conclusion of the Championship.
The event featured all 12 WHAC teams, golfing three rounds over the two days, with 36 holes being completed on Monday, followed by 18 on Tuesday.
RCU SCORES
The Warriors finished the tournament in 10th place after totaling 952 strokes throughout the three rounds with scores of 331-305-316.
Daniel Runkel was the top golfer for the team with a 10th-place finish, totaling 226 strokes with scores of 79-71-76, with the 71 being tied for the third-lowest round in the tournament. Jaime Sanchez was six strokes behind Runkel as he shot rounds of 79-77-76 for a total score of 232.
Alex Steele and Tyler Edwards were next up on the team with total scores of 245 and 249, respectively. Steele had rounds of 85-78-82, while Edwards scored 88-79-82. Francisco Funtanet rounded out the team with a 255 and round scores of 88-80-87.
REST OF THE FIELD PERFORMANCES
Northwestern Ohio claimed its sixth conference championship and its first since the 2022-23 season. UNOH finished the two-day event with a score of 297, shooting scores of 292-293-297, beating second-place Lawrence Tech by 16 strokes.
Jordan Walford took home the top score for the tournament, shooting rounds of 70-71-75 for a total score of 216, beating second-place by two shots.

Jaime Sanchez was recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The freshman was honored for his commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
WHAC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
The WHAC announced its All-Academic teams, which include sophomores and above in Academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.25. The two Warriors honored were Tomas Beltran and Francisco Funtanet.
