Men's Golf places fifth at the Lourdes Spring Invitational

(Ottawa Lake, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's golf team was back for the second tournament of the week, this time heading to The Legacy at Ottawa Lake for the Lourdes Spring Invitational. RCU was one of 17 teams in attendance. 

 

RCU saw Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) opponents: Indiana Tech, Cleary, Madonna, Lawrence Tech, Lourdes, Cornerstone, and Michigan-Dearborn, all in attendance. 

 

RCU SCORES

RCU's team score of 309 was the fifth-best mark at the tournament and the second-lowest mark for the Warriors this season. 

 

Daniel Runkel ended in a tie for first place after shooting a 73 (+1), but would ultimately fall to IIT's golfer in a playoff hole. 

 

Jaime Sanchez was the next top golfer on the team as he would finish one stroke behind Runkel with a 74 (+2) and in an eight-way tie for third place. 

 

Alex Steele and Francisco Funtanet rounded out the RCU scoring for the match, shooting 79 (+9) and 83 (+11), respectively. Braylon Games was the fifth golfer on the team, shooting an 87 (+15).

 

Tyler Edwards competed at the event as an individual, shooting a 77 (+5). 

 

REST OF FIELD PERFORMANCES

Indiana Tech's "A" team took home the top spot for the tournament with a team score of 299, as they were +11 as a team. 

 

Xavier Herrero from Indiana Tech took the top spot for the event, finishing in a tie for first place with RCU's Runkel and earning the tournament win, following a playoff hole. 

 

UP NEXT

The Warriors' next action will be on April 20-21 at the WHAC Championships. The event will be held at The Players Club at Woodland Trails in Yorktown, Indiana.
