Men's Golf competes at Cleary Invitational; Runkel places second

(Brighton, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's golf team was back in Michigan to compete at the Cleary Spring Invitational on Monday. The Warriors were one of seven teams in attendance at the event. 

 

The other six teams were: Mott Community College, Spring Arbor, Lourdes, Cleary, Michigan-Dearborn, and Aquinas. 

 

RCU SCORES

The team would place sixth in the tournament with a team score of 323. 

 

Daniel Runkel was the top RCU golfer for the event with a score of 72 (+1). Runkel took home a second-place finish for the event, as he was five strokes behind the leader. 

 

Jaime Sanchez was the next RCU golfer with a score of 80, while Francisco Funtanet and Alex Steele were the final two scorers for the team with totals of 94 and 87. 

 

Tyler Edwards rounded out the team with a score of 88.

 



REST OF FIELD PERFORMANCES

Spring Arbor took home the top team spot for the event with a team score of 307, with all four scoring players in the top-10. 

 

Cleary's Axel Houdaille was the top individual scorer, as he was the sole golfer to shoot under par with a 67, and he was four-under par.

The Warriors will be back on the course on Thursday, April 9, when they head to the Lourdes Spring Invitational.
