Men's Golf opens Spring Season, Sanchez places fourth

(Prestonsburg, KY) - The Rochester Christian men's golf team opened up its Spring 2026 season on Monday and Tuesday at the UPKIE Spring Invite in Kentucky. The event saw teams battle through two rounds of play. The other three teams at the event were Pikeville, Ohio Christian, and Alice Lloyd. 

 

The Warriors as a team finished in second place with a total score of 632, with round scores of 312 and 320. 

 

RCU INDIVIDUAL SCORES

Jaime Sanchez began the spring season atop the RCU leaderboard, placing fourth at the tournament, after scoring a tournament total of 149, with the second-lowest round score of 70.

 

Daniel Runkel finished in 11th-place with a 158 score, with a low of 78. 

 

Alex Steele and Francisco Funtanet were the next two golfers on the leaderboard with scores of 162 and 163, respectively. Steele recorded a low round of 81, with Funtanet scoring an 80. Tyler Edwards rounded out the RCu golfers for the tournament with a 177, scoring a low round of 86. 

 

REST OF FIELD PERFORMANCES

Kaeden Anderson from Pikeville earned the top individual spot at the invite with a total score of 140, including a low round of 69. 

 

Pikeville also claimed the top team spot, after posting scores of 289 and 298 for a total score of 587.

The Warriors will next hit the links on April 6 at the Cleary Spring Invitational at the Oak Pointe Country Club in Brighton, Michigan.
