Men's Golf places 2nd at Cleary Cougar Invite; Runkel ends in tie for 1st

(South Lyon, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's golf team competed at the Cleary Cougar Invite on Tuesday at the Moose Ridge Golf Club in South Lyon, Michigan. The event featured one round of play on a rainy afternoon. 

The Warriors would finish five strokes back of first-place Madonna on the day, finishing with a total score of 213. 

RCU SCORES
Daniel Runkel would finish his 18 holes of play in a tie for first place with three other golfers. Runkel's score of 73 would be his second-lowest mark of the season, and narrowly miss out on winning the tournament due to a scorecard playoff. The next pair of RCU golfers were Tyler Edwards and Max Teschendorf, who both finished in a tie for seventh place, recording a score of 77. This is Edwards' lowest mark of the season. 

The final two RCU golfers would also finish in a tie with each other, both scoring an 85, were Alex Steele and Jamie Sanchez.

REST OF FIELD PERFORMANCES

John Truxel, Kaden Patterson, Daniel Runkel, and Justin Altenbach each finished the round with a 73, with Tutel from Madonna being named the individual champion by way of a scorecard playoff. 

Truxel and the Crusaders would also be named the tournament champion, shooting a score of 307.

The team will prepare for its final match of the fall season, which will happen on Monday, October 13, at the Sylvania Country Club in Sylvania, Ohio.
